One could make the case that opening a gallery in Jackson’s high-rent district is a tad risky just now. It’s also quite a confident step and one that photographer Adrienne DeLiso and her husband, Clay Corbisier, plan to take very soon, when their new “Troutwater Gallery” opens in space previously occupied by “Wild Exposures.” The gallery plans to open before Thanksgiving, and a website is in the works.
DeLiso says “Troutwater” features contemporary wildlife-themed oil paintings, Western and fly fishing themed works, contemporary Western photography, and traditional wildlife and landscape photographs. The gallery features four artists, two painters and two photographers; the owners contribute half the inventory.
“Troutwater’s” tag line, “New Art in the Old West,” will help market the gallery’s targeted niche as a stepping stone set between Trailside’s more traditional fare and Muse Gallery’s decidedly contemporary offerings.
DeLiso launched her photography career in Los Angeles, eventually transitioning to Seattle , where she ran a successful photography studio for 14 years. She considers herself a naturalist whose passion for wilderness inspires her work. Locally, she’s been featured at the National Museum of Wildlife Art, and her award-winning nature and landscape images have been included in several Northwest galleries. DeLiso’s photographs have appeared in several books and magazines.
“Troutwater” will be located at 60 East Broadway, next door to “Horse of a Different Color.” An opening reception takes place at the gallery December 20, beginning at 3:00 pm.
